Objectives
To ensure that we restore the dignity of our people by providing them with access to clean drinking water in their communities.
Baseline
- South Africa is currently facing a potable water shortage crisis due to various factors including lack of bulk water supply and reticulation in vulnerable communities. This has led for communities to consume contaminated water that makes them ill. Contaminated water may be fatal for children under the age of 5.
- Borehole water/ground water is an economical and sustainable solution for affected communities.
- Installing boreholes in households, communities and strategic facilities such as local schools and community clinics and hospitals will ensure that all people get access to an important need.
Justification
ADA requests funding to contract borehole drilling companies to drill boreholes in communities in order to provide clean drinking water that can be used for hydration and cooking. Water is life and without this access, communities are unable to function and the lack of potable water will result in disease and fatalities in young children.
